Having completed The Great Fortune, immediately followed by The Spoilt City, I am now off to the third of The Balkan Trilogy, that is to say Friends and you start you simply cannot stop. This trilogy should be seen as one book. I have read a lot about WW2, but this book has engagingly filled me in on the fall of Romania to the Germans, which had been a gaping hole!/5.
